CHATEAU DEYUAN

CHATEAU DEYUAN was built up in 2007.and it was located at qinhuangdao where is the capital of wine industry in china . DEYUAN is a history story of QIN dynasty ,that there are 2 author lived here . now they got high TEC to plant the vine also in fermentation .they got a climate special than outside of  this valley .they got more sugar and flavor . Chardonnay is quite good preferment .



Bodega-Langes

The winery Bodega-Langes located in Changli city, Hebei province of china. Changli area is famous and important in chinese wine industry, there are many wineries including Bodega-Langes, but this winery is not totally same as the others, I will introduce what special it is.

Firstly, the winery set in the middle slope of the mountain, where is lack of rain all the year. Before Bodega-Langes was founded there was nothing growing, it is a wasteland, even not any person living there because of the water-lack. And as a result, it is far away from any polluted industry, it’s important to establish the BIO winery for Bodega-Langes.

Secondly, all the products of Bodega-Langes is BIO products. It is more difficult in China because everywhere is developing high-tech or other polluted industries, it’s hard to find a clean yard to set a BIO winery, it’s an opportunity for Bodega-Langes, they found this clean and suitable land for BIO vine, they insist and achieve their dream, that is to produce green-organic wine in China.

Thirdly, Bodega-Langes is the first winery in China which was honored with “China First Green Cultural Winery”, in their culture, the winery is not only material but also spiritual. Under the complex environment of wine industry in China, they want to walk along their own way with immoveable step, they will success in future.

Next, let`s look at Langes winery`s tourism, the winery architectural style is elegant European style, his assemble accommodation, food, health, entertainment, as one of the four-star resort hotel. The resort have 30 standard rooms, 12 deluxe rooms sets, 9 large meeting rooms, the hotel have a Chinese restaurant and a Western-style fast-food restaurant, can accommodate 300 people dining.
At the same time, the Langes winery has the domestic unique grape seed extract oil SPA,  like Caudalie.
In summary, the Langes winery is the Holy Land include  tasting and entertainment in China.

JADE VALLEY

Jade Valley Wine & Resort is the most beautiful winery in China .It was established by Qingyun Ma in 2000. Qingyun Ma Originally from Xi'an, he is also the Dean of Southern California University (USC) School of Architecture.So in 2000 he went to his home town to built this winery. And their pinot noir is the best in China . Even  Jancis Robinson also like their pinot .
The other is their label ,just like chateau mouton ,each year thery invite artist to design the labels .

Jade Valley applies wine classifcation from the buildings names. Each building represents different levels of Jade Valley wine: the rarity and nobilit of Stone House, the humanity and landscape of Well Hall. the vibrant and easy drinking of Wine Dorm, all have thedistinctive characteristics. The classifcation after building names is a novel creation in the world. Jade Valley Winery  has a vineyard of  20 hectare .It has a capacity  production of   100,000 bottles annually containing: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot and two white : Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, jade valley wine presents the characteristic of an elegant balance between fruit, terroir. It indeed demonstrates the best devoir to its origin.

LAN SHAN YU ZHUO

In China the wineries are usually set up by investment groups, but in recent years, some family wineries have emerged, growing grapes on their own land and brewing them into wine. Today we want to introduce the LANSHANYUZHUO family winery which is located in the most promising area of Yinchuan, Ningxia.

Today we are fortunate to interview the owner Ms GAOYurui

who is now learning about wine in Bordeaux.

 

Q: In China, there isn’t a lot of production equipment for family wineries which are relatively of small production.
A:Yes that is true, there aren’t a lot of suitable machines. Most of them are only suitable for high yield vineyards. We need to find this equipment through other ways, for example from Europe and I think that there are business opportunities for small equipment to be produced in China .

Q :There is also a problem of land using rights in China when the land belongs to the government . A citizen can only use it for only 50 years, so the issue is how to heritage the land .

A:This question is not easy to answer as the policy always changes in China. In particular, the problem of land ownership .At least for now, there hasn’t been 50 years of grape growing. So this issue hasn’t even been touched yet, but nonetheless we should encourage the government to adjust the land policy. 

Q :What are you most worried about and what is the biggest challenge for your ?
A :Such as this time when I go back to application QS indicators, many of which are sohard. The government encourage building wineries, however these indicators are not suitable for the development of small wineries in many ways. Because of the plasticiers problem, we are now required to use steel pipe. The problem is that many family wineries are not rich, so a lot of the requirements are based on the medium and large wineries. I think the government lack relevant rules for family wineries and need to realize that a family winery is impossible to build as a huge winery.

Ruby color. Black cherry ,violet ,elegant oak and strawberry flavor. In the mouth, the wine is powerful, balanced and structured well with its tannins, fruitiness and acidity. Medium length in the end.

Silver Heights Winery

  During Christmas holidays, I returned to China to spend my vacation, I appreciated to have the chance to taste wines of Silver Heights winery, so I want to introduce this special winery to you today.

  Same as Helan Qingxue winery that we introduced last week, Silver Heights winery is located at Donglu of Helan Mountain too, so this area is exactly good for grape growing and wine making. 

  Silver Heights is a young family winery, it is established in 2007 by Ms. Gao and her father. The winery has no beautiful building, no luxurious decorating, even no decent winery, but very clean and professional. The yield of the first year, 2007, it is 2,400 bottles/year, today they have 15 hectares vineyard and the yield is 30,000 bottles/year. It is a small winery in China, but why we want to introduce such a small and not well-known winery, especially in big China and among lots of big brand? We think that wine is art, we don’t judge a success only by quantity, we should pay more attention to those who make wines by heart, their dreams are to make wine, not to make money. So we should protect them, respect them, and help them to be known by more and more people. As the winery is better and better, some businessmen and big companies want to buy the winery or become the shareholder, but they are all refused by Ms. Gao, she wants to manage this vinyard carefully, her goal is to make better wine, not more money.

  Silver Heights winery makes two wines today, one is Silver Heights Family Reserve and another is Silver Heights ‘The summit‘. In 2010, WM Jancis Robinson has been to China, she gave 16 points to Silver Heights Family Reserve 2007 and gave 16+ points to Silver Heights Family Reserve 2008, it is a good level for Chinese wines. Now follow me to taste the two wines.

Firstly, I tasted the Silver Heights ‘The summit’ 2007 and 2008, you can see it in left hand of Ms.Gao in the photo. It is comprised of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 20% cabernet gernischt and 20% cabernet franc. Ruby color, elegant oak and strawberry flavor, in the mouth, the wine is soft, balance and well structured with the tannin, fruity and acidity. Medium length in the end. Personal feelings: this wine is very ‘Bordeaux’. I think the vintage 2007 have a very high starting to reflect the hard working from the owner; the flavor and taste of the vintage 2008 are more fine and profound than 2007. Let me show you the honor from this wine: vintage 2007, 82/100 from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate; Jancis Robinson rated its 2008 vintage 16+ out of 20 points and commented in April 2010: ‘deep and rich, still very chewy. Very well done!’ 

  Another wine that I tasted is the “2009 Silver Heights Family Reserve”, you can see it in right hand of Ms.Gao in the photo. It is comprised of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Germischt. Deep garnet in color, it has a nose of bing cherry, dusty wet basement and a slight hint of blackberry jam. The palate initially hits you with tastes of cherry and blackberry, but the mid-palate is lacking a bit, however, the cherry flavors continue to a finish of both cherries and chocolate.   

  While not a great wine it is still definitely a good wine - a lot better than most of the other domestic wines here. What intrigues me about Silver Heights is their willingness to take their time in producing wine in China. Most other winemakers pick their grapes like they were apples or oranges. Silver Heights understands that growing quality grapes for their wines is the proper way to do it.
